How to Ask Tarot About Pregnancy

An important part of tarot readings is how you ask the question. It’s tempting to ask yes or no questions like “Will I have a baby?” However the answer you’ll get is limiting. You might be overjoyed by a clear yes, then find yourself confused and impatient if it takes time. Or you may feel completely defeated by a no. In a way that’s heart breaking and unnecessary.

Questions that begin with, how, what, who, or why, will give you information that you can use! You’re the creator of your reality. So don’t feel like you have to take a no, or a yes as the absolute final answer.

If do you want a simple yes or no, make sure to read the section below. Because you’ll gain a clear  understanding of what cards are linked to pregnancy and fertility. Then, go to this reference guide here for the yes or no meaning of every card in the deck. I get it, sometimes simple is needed.

Tarot Cards Associated With Pregnancy

The ultimate pregnancy tarot card is the Empress. She symbolizes fertility, motherhood and is the key sign of pregnancy in a tarot reading.

Best Tarot Cards for Fertility

The best tarot card for fertility is again the Empress. She indicates a time of being highly fertile. If you pull this major arcana card in a fertility reading you might even get pregnant in your current cycle!

Drawing the Star tarot card is also a great sign for fertility. The symbolism of her pouring water directly relates to nurturing fertility. This card is about healing. If you’ve been struggling with getting pregnant, and you draw the star, take a deep exhale. Your reproductive system is coming into alignment. Your dreams of having a baby aren’t far from coming true.

The Ace of Cups is a card representing new beautiful beginnings. Drawing this card in a fertility reading suggests your mind, body and spirit are in alignment. You’re ready to bring a baby into the world. If you’ve gone through a tough journey to get to this point, the inner healing you’ve done is paying off! Now is the time to be open to the miracle of life.

A Special Note About the Death Tarot Card and Fertility

If you’ve lost a baby before drawing the death card in a fertility reading is highly unsettling. The death card does not predict death. Miscarriage, or stillbirth is not how this card is interpreted.

Death signifies a profound transformation. It’s a change, so in certain contexts it can actually indicate pregnancy, as becoming a parent is a profound transformation.

There are some tarot readers who will predict pregnancy loss, this would never be shown by the death card alone.

Learn more about the meaning of the death tarot card here.

Pregnancy Loss & Tarot

As someone who’s had a miscarriage, then a child shortly after, I feel it’s not helpful to predict pregnancy loss. I spent my second pregnancy in a state of endless worry. “If I can just make it through the 1st trimester I know the baby will be okay”. Then To “Gosh I just hope it’s born alive.”

The fear and apprehension in the back of my mind lasted even through postpartum. Worrying about SIDS and all the random dangers I’d hear about online.

For that reason I give the side-eye to anyone that would predict pregnancy loss. Why put someone through that stress? If the prediction is right does it lessen the grief? No! Losing a baby is heartbreaking, and I’m truly sorry if you’ve experienced that loss.

For full transparency, in readings where miscarriage is predicted it’s multiple cards with heavy emotional themes drawn together. Context matters. No single card is meant to predict this loss.

Questions to Ask Tarot About Pregnancy

If you are pregnant there are many fun and interesting questions you can ask your tarot cards.

For example if you ask about your birth experience, the Ace of swords can mean a c-section birth.

If you already have a child, a popular question to ask is how will my child respond to the new baby?” Understanding this can help make the transition as easy as possible for your family.

Here’s a list of questions to ask if you’re expecting!

“What will my new baby be like?” (energy, personality, who they’ll grow up to be)

“How will my birth experience be?”

“How can I best prepare to welcome my new baby?”

“What do I need to have the best birth story possible?”

“How will my partner be as a new parent?”

“What does my baby need right now in the womb?”

“How can I have the best pregnancy ever?”

“What will my baby teach me?”

“How will I change becoming a parent?”

When Will I Have a Baby Tarot Question

If you’re asking yourself “When will my baby be born” and can tarot predict it for you. The answer is maybe. Predicting timing with tarot can be terrifyingly accurate or vague and confusing.

The more fixated you are on something happening, (for example if you really want to have a baby and have been trying for a while) the more elusive the answer is. Knowing exactly when something is going to happen can trip you up. Taking you into your head and out of your body. Sometimes it’s better not to know, and your cards understand this.

I’ve created a reference guide for how to predict timing in tarot. Including the traditional timeline of every single card in your deck. Find it here, because it can give you clarity!

Can Tarot Predict Baby Gender?

Boy or girl tarot readings can be tricky. There are a few cards in the deck that scream boy or girl. There are many cards that are ambiguous and confusing.

So let’s take a look at some of the clear tarot cards for baby gender in the next section.

The rest, you’ll have to use your intuition to decide what gender the card means. Don’t automatically assume that because the character in the card is a certain gender then the baby’s gender will match. It’s not always that simple!

Say you draw the 6 of wands, a male character, in baby gender tarot reading. The 6 of wands indicates victory and success. This shows the baby will be the gender the asking parent truly desires. Not simply a boy because the 6 of wands is a boy.

What Tarot Cards Represent A Baby Boy?

Baby boy tarot card

The best tarot cards to show a baby boy are cards with high masculine energy. The Emperor, the Ace of Wands, the Knights and the Kings. Drawing any of these tarot cards is a clear sign that it’s a boy!

What Tarot Cards Represent A Baby Girl?

For a girl, the Empress, the High Priestess, the Queen’s, and the Nine of Pentacles are highly feminine. Making them clear signs of a baby girl.
