Living Fully: Balancing Spirituality and Daily Life

Years ago, nestled away in the mountains of Nepal I was having crazy spiritual experiences. Basically tripping balls every day with no substances.

My day looked like this.

  • Wake Up
  • Self Reiki (Energy Healing)
  • Yoga 1 Hour
  • Breakfast / Relaxation Time
  • Midday Pranayama (Breath Work)
  • Shamanic Drum Journey (A Form Of Meditation)
  • Walk
  • Dinner
  • Self Reiki
  • Sleep

I was having lucid dreams, out of body and astral experiences. Awesome vision journeys. Connecting with spiritual guides. Deep insights daily.

Here I am in nepal looking like a total hippie 🙂

I was totally disconnected from reality. While this time was cool, I won’t lie. Filled with metaphysics and symbolic experiences. I basically wasn’t living life.

The Buddhists have this saying, “chop wood, carry water.”

It essentially means you can have all these spiritual practices, beliefs and experiences. At the end the day you have to just live life. Spiritual escapism is real and easy to fall into. The point isn’t to run away from life. It’s to live more fully, more present.

You still have to chop your wood, and carry your water. Or in my case, water my plants, clean up toddler poop and empty the dishwasher.

We are here to live life. During that time there were real problems I wasn’t facing. I’m not the best at handling anger. I misinterpret what people say sometimes and often make it seem worse than it was meant. At that time in my life I was so socially afraid. I didn’t know how to build connections or relationships.

Living life meant I was able to overcome my shyness. To the point where now I can show up at big events to provide tarot readings. Where I connect with tons of strangers with ease. It actually lights me up. I’m good at it.

Living life means improving and changing the things that aren’t working. Instead of just escaping them. It means finding a life that aligns with your true values. It’s feeling, even the shitty emotions.

While that time in my life was fascinating. There is something way more magical, about sitting down with my son and reading him a story. Or catching the beauty of another grey Vancouver day.

This Hafiz poem says it best.

I offer tarot readings that provide insights and clarity on the problems in your real life. Because you need practical and empathetic guidance.

I’m not a tarot reader who’s going to tell you that your struggles today are because you’re cursed, or trapped in past life karma. See my post about karma here.

However, if you want to dive into the metaphysical, the spiritual, and the great mysteries of life. I can walk with you there too. I have an unusual amount of experience with that!
